Last Saturday, 13 June, was a day of celebration for the British community! Around 60 people gathered at St Paul’s to take part in the King’s Birthday Party. The British Society’s traditional gathering had a Brazilian flavour this year, with a buffet of feijoada and caipirinha.

A The 2026 World Cup also played a part in the festivities: the traditional quiz – a staple of British events – was packed with questions about football and interesting facts from the history of the World Cup. In addition, the FBB team organised a betting pool for the Brazil v Scotland match, which will take place on 24 June. The winner will receive an official Brazil shirt.

The party also featured the traditional toast to King Charles III and a table laden with traditional teas and desserts, such as apple tart with vanilla sauce and Victoria Sponge cake.

“Our King’s Birthday Party, featuring a delicious feijoada, was great fun and full of lovely encounters. The quiz was fantastic! It was great to see so many members of the British community celebrating and getting together. And we’re looking forward to the result of our Brazil v Scotland betting pool!”, said Andrew Greenlees, Chair of the British Charity Foundation / British Society SP.

We would like to thank all members of the community who took part in the event. It was an afternoon of wonderful encounters and a great celebration of British culture.

See below for some photos from the event.
