Institutional
Welcome to the British Charities Foundation blog

First of all, I think I’d better introduce myself: my name is Ricardo and I am the Institutional Development Co-ordinator at British Charitable Foundation . I will be one of the regular contributors to this blog, and I’ll pop in here whenever there’s any news about the Foundation worth sharing.
As I was responsible for the inaugural post, I’ve decided to outline here some of the initiatives we undertook in 2017, which culminated in the launch of this new website and, consequently, this blog – both of which reflect the Foundation’s new positioning:
Institutional review
In the year that We have celebrated our 70th anniversary – yes, the FBB was founded in 1947 – and we have also undergone a very intensive process of institutional review, the results of which can be seen on this website.
We have strengthened our commitment to the cause of older people and reworked our Mission, Vision and Manifesto to reflect this new phase. We are also reviewing all our communications so that the British Charitable Foundation, our work and our achievements become better known to the public.
Restructuring of programmes for older people
The Social Services department, responsible for the planning and implementation of all our projects, has carried out a review of all our programmes, resulting in the four that have been publicised on our website: Care, Multiply, Collect and Amparar.
In this process, it was also decided that our focus on supporting the elderly would be achieved through the expansion of the ‘Cuidar’ programmes and Multiplicar programmes, which have enormous transformative potential.
Thanks to this work, we were able to focus our efforts in 2017 primarily on ‘Cuidar’ and achieve some very encouraging results: more than 100 follow-ups carried out with the approximately 30 elderly people who took part in our trial phase.
For 2018, the plan is to expand these two programmes even further. To do so, however, we will rely on new donations and partnerships to help us make this plan a reality and enable us to further improve the quality of life of older people who depend, directly or indirectly, on the British Charitable Foundation!
Fernanda, the programme coordinator, will also be popping in here on the blog from time to time to share these and other results from our projects.
New plan for donors
Donations are essential to the survival of the FBB (and of all the NGOs out there). For this reason, we are implementing a new donation model for individuals who wish to support the cause of older people and the funding from the British Foundation. This model enables donors to make a monthly contribution to our cause, either by credit card or bank transfer.
In this way, we will be able to build a network of supporters that will ensure the success of our programmes and help us expand our reach. We hope to count on you, the reader of this text, to help us achieve this goal. Simply visit our donation page and choose an amount to become a regular supporter.
We are also seeking partnerships with potential organisations interested in supporting us. In doing so, we are strengthening our ties with British organisations, with whom we have always had a close relationship, and building closer links with other companies that have begun to contribute to our cause, such as the Estufa Agency, HostGator and Salesforce.org.
This is a very brief overview of the process we went through in 2017. We intend to explore some of these topics in more detail and also talk more about our plans for 2018 in future posts.
