Over the past few months, we have organised a series of leisure activities for older people associated with the British Foundation. As well as the ‘’ celebration of the Queen’s Birthday , which we have already mentioned, we took the older people to various other events: a bingo evening organised by the Carajás Scout Group, a performance of the musical *The Little Mermaid* at the Santander Theatre, and an afternoon of tea and cakes, in the very British style of our founders.
Bingo Carajás
On Saturday 26 May, the Carajás Scout Group organised an afternoon of bingo at the headquarters of the SPYC – São Paulo Yacht Club It was a lovely afternoon, with the bingo accompanied by a choir performance and some delicious food!
We took 47 elderly people connected to the Foundation to take part in this activity and were very warmly welcomed by all the Scouts, as well as by the ‘Carapais’, the group of volunteer parents who help run the group.
We’d like to extend our thanks to the Carajás and the SPYC team. It was great to have everyone’s help on this fun-filled day for the elderly.
The Little Mermaid
On 13 June, a Wednesday, we took 12 elderly people to see the musical The Little Mermaid , which was showing at the Santander Theatre until last weekend.
All the elderly people loved the play, really enjoyed the songs and were moved by the extremely captivating storyline. Our participation was only made possible thanks to IMM , the musical’s producer, which donated the tickets so that we could provide our elderly residents with this wonderful afternoon of leisure!
We would like to thank IMM and Lior Berlovich, who made this partnership possible.
Afternoon tea and cakes
Finally, we held an afternoon tea and cakes event last Friday, 28 July. This get-together took place at the Cora Residencial , where our elderly beneficiaries of the ‘’ and ‘Programa Acolher’ programmes live.
As well as the venue and the food and drink – which were delicious – Cora also organised a theatre workshop for the elderly residents, who absolutely loved the experience!
Leisure activities for older people
We know that providing leisure activities is essential for improving the quality of life of older people. For this reason, we strive to organise as many activities as possible. If you’d like to suggest an activity, simply get in touch with us so we can discuss it.
